Billy Charles Jones, Sr., a dedicated crane operator and project manager in the construction industry, passed away on January 5, 2026 at the age of 86 in Efland, North Carolina. Born on March 20, 1940, he spent his life making significant contributions to his field while earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Educated as a Nationally Certified NCCCO Crane Operator, Billy displayed an exceptional work ethic and a commitment to safety and excellence throughout his career. His expertise in crane operation and project management not only advanced his own career but also positively impacted numerous projects over the years.

Outside of his professional achievements, Billy loved music by Elvis Presley, especially Elvis gospel songs, and Charlie Rich. He and his wife, Sherry, considered one of Charlie Rich's songs "We Love Each Other" as "their song". When he was asked how he and his wife had such a great marriage, he would always refer to that song.

Billy leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Sherry Bullard Jones, along with his two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Charles Jones, Jr. and Rebecca Jones and Charles "Charlie" Jones and Debbie Jones; a stepdaughter, Kris Howell; a sister, Donnia Harris and several grand children, neices and nephews. They will always cherish the memories of their time together and the lessons learned from a devoted husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Joe Thomas Pritchard; his father, Melvin Jones; a sister, Rebecca Barrow and a brother, Lonnie Jones.

Billy had a larger than life personality always making those around him laugh. He will be remembered not only as a skilled professional but also as a loving and dedicated family man whose legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
