Davis Coleman Hill

Davis Hill, beloved child, sibling, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16 at 9:30 p.m., age 32, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Davis was born on December 15, 1992 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Aaron Hoyle Hill and Tara Catherine Drescher Hill. From the beginning they brought light, laughter, and fierce authenticity into the world. Throughout their life, Davis lived boldly and joyfully, always finding adventure. Their honesty, humor, compassion, and loyalty shaped every relationship they had. They consistently dedicated their time and creativity to serving their community and their environment. They had a passion for plants, animals, music, parties, and nice walks in the woods. Davis was known to everyone for their openness to new experiences and appreciation for beauty. They faced their illness with grace, humor, and remarkable strength, never losing their ability to laugh, connect, and love.

Above all, Davis loved their people. Their partner, Willow, was the love of their life and constant source of tenderness and care. Their family and friends were endlessly important to them, and the stories shared in Davis’s final days showed just how deeply they touched those around them.

The family wishes to thank Katharine Landahl and Kiyoshi Maloney, who cared for Davis and Nali after their diagnosis, as well as all the friends and caregivers who loved and supported Davis through their journey. To honor Davis’s memory, those who knew and loved them are encouraged to stand up for others, communicate openly, notice the beauty in the natural world, and carry Davis’s spirit of adventure into their own lives.

Davis is survived by their partner Willow Maloney, mother Tara Hill and stepfather Jason Horn, father Aaron Hill and stepmother Mir Garvy, older brother Joseph Hill and his wife Shannon McDermott, younger sister Cassidi Hill, younger brother Griffin Hill and his wife Cynthia Hill, maternal grandfather Joseph Drescher and partner Ellen Wilson, paternal grandmother Iris Hill, cousin Christian Drescher, aunt Katie Miller and her husband Brad Miller, uncle Donald Hill, Jr., uncle Phil Pusateri and his wife Lori, and Davis's beloved dog, Nali. They were preceded in death by maternal grandmother Cathy Drescher, paternal grandfather Donald Hill, Sr., and aunt Susan Drescher.

A celebration of Davis’s life will be on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Aaron and Mir's house (1109 Clifton Street in Raleigh, NC).
