With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Diane Bonner Jones, known lovingly as Mom to her son and Mimi to her grandchildren. Diane passed away peacefully after a courageous, nearly year-long battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
She is survived by her husband, John Jones, her son John “Jay” Jones and his wife Megan Jones, her sister Brenda Monk, beloved grandchildren, and many dear friends and extended family.
Born in Atlanta, Diane lived a beautiful life marked by kindness and strength and will be remembered for her smile and bright spirit that filled the room. She raised her family in Peachtree City, Georgia, and later made her home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was an active member of the Chapel Hill Garden Club, a lover of the North Carolina coast, and a passionate fan of UNC sports.
Her final months were filled with meaningful time spent with her sister and close friends, moments of laughter and reflection that spoke to the depth of her relationships. Her husband stood faithfully by her side throughout her journey, offering unwavering love and support.
Diane’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched—through her gentle wisdom, her charismatic spirit, and the unconditional love she gave to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
