Donna Lehman Howell

Donna Lehman Howell, born on October 20, 1944, departed this life on October 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion.

Donna dedicated many years of her professional life to the field of laboratory technology, beginning her career at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. She later worked at Charity Hospital in New Orleans for over 20 years. Her contributions to healthcare continued when she relocated to North Carolina, culminating in her long-standing service at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill before her retirement. 

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Donna were often charmed by her sharp wit and engaging personality. She formed a wide circle of devoted friends and cherished the moments spent at social gatherings, where her lively spirit was evident. An adventurous soul, Donna traveled extensively throughout her life demonstrating her independence and curiosity.  She lived her life on her own terms, embodying the spirit of an individual who was truly one of a kind.

In addition to her career and travels, Donna was a passionate advocate for environmental and animal charities. She was deeply committed to the welfare of all creatures, great and small. Her love for dogs was particularly noteworthy; they were her family, and her affection for them earned her the title of "World's Greatest Dog Mom." Donna pampered and spoiled each dog that graced her life, providing them with a loving home filled with joy and care.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond G. and Pearl Tillack Lehman.  Her spirited nature and unwavering generosity will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
