Eugene Patrick Rogers, loving and generous husband, father, and brother passed away on August 15, 2025, with his wife, Gillian, by his side. Gene made friends wherever he went with his ready smile and self-deprecating humor. A man of deep faith, he was a positive force for community service in Glen Rock, NJ and Fearrington Village (Pittsboro), NC.
Gene often brought people together around home-cooked meals. He organized family Thanksgiving, Christmas, and St. Patrick's Day dinners; neighborhood block parties; and barbeques for golf buddies. He prepared fruit salads for the UPC Men's Group and baked treats for the Fearrington Village Adopt-a-Highway crew.
Gene was a proud Irish American New Yorker and graduate of New York University who was born in Manhattan and lived in The Bronx and Yonkers before moving to New Jersey. Always a hard worker, he got his first job at a young age, sweeping up hair at a barbershop. He spent his earnings on popular 45's and enjoyed American Band Stand. He often marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade with his uncle, brothers, and cousin.
Gene is survived by his wife, Gillian; his sons, Thomas and Andrew; son-in-law, Aditya Ghosh; sisters, Patricia and Margaret; and brothers, John and Brian. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolee (Williams) Rogers, mother of Thomas and Andrew.
A celebration of his life will take place at University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, NC on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
