Obituary

Geoffrey “Geoff” Robert Flippo

Geoffrey “Geoff” Robert Flippo, 59, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026.

Geoff was born on May 26, 1967, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and grew up in Watervliet, Michigan. His Michigan roots remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Geoff proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer from 1986 to 1989, serving at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and in Kitzingen, Germany. Following his military service, he built a career dedicated to serving others. For the past 16 years, Geoff was a valued member of the Wake Technical Community College family, where he found both purpose and fulfillment in his work and in the people he encountered along the way.

Geoff had a wonderful sense of humor, was fiercely loyal, and loved God, his family, and his country deeply. He was a gracious host, an adventurous traveler, and an avid outdoorsman. He most enjoyed sharing good food, time outdoors, and laughter with the people he loved. His family and friends were at the center of his life, and those closest to him will remember his warmth, generosity, and endearing personality.

Geoff will be remembered most of all for the relationships he built and the love he shared with his family. He leaves behind his life partner, Penni Simmons; his daughter, Ashley (Stephen) French; his son, Corey (Linsey) Flippo; and his grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Anna, and Aylla, who brought great joy to his life. He also leaves behind Penni’s mother, Irene, his beloved mother-in-love.

Surviving siblings include Marty (Todd) McGrady; Anna Harper; John (Karla) Flippo; and Matt Rosenbaum. Surviving stepsiblings include James (Ann) Rosenbaum; Kristi (Matthew) Jacobs; and Leesa Rosenbaum, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Blazen; his father, Robert Flippo; and his stepfather, Jerry Rosenbaum.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The Shepherd’s Church, 6051 Tryon Road, Cary, North Carolina 27518. Family and friends are invited to gather in the fellowship hall immediately following the service for light refreshments and a time of remembrance and fellowship.
