Isaac Miles Edwards

Isaac Miles Edwards, age 22, of Clayton and Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on June 2, 2026 in Shining Rock Wilderness, North Carolina.

Isaac had a quiet, tender spirit. He loved all animals and nature. He was happiest outdoors, spending time on the Trent River, at the beach, in the mountains or even walking along the Greenway. He was an avid catch-and-release fisherman, whether it be from the surf, river dock, or mountain stream. At the age of 12, he landed a citation Red Drum from the Nags Head Pier. He loved to hike in the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. He recently took the trip of a lifetime to visit Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier National Parks with his best friend Ryan. He would try to catch every sunrise and sunset, and loved to share them with his Mom. He was a stargazer and he and his Mom spent many hours waiting for shooting stars and pointing out different constellations and planets to each other. He took pride in his car and loved working on it with his brother, Rylan. Isaac also enjoyed doing home projects like helping his Dad rebuild their deck or helping his Mom paint too many times to count. He was always there to help. He enjoyed music and loved sharing notes with his Dad. Isaac was a student at East Carolina University with plans to graduate in 2027 with a degree in Finance. We will cherish all the wonderful memories we have with him and will always ache for a million more. He leaves a hole in our hearts that will forever remain.

He is deeply loved and will forever be missed by his mother, Elizabeth Anne Edwards Pittman and husband John Pittman of Clayton, and his father, Nathan Davis Brown and wife Amanda Brown of Raleigh. He was the eldest son of both families and everyone's "favorite brother." He was cherished and adored by his siblings Rylan and Kate Brown of Raleigh, and Levi, Ruby, and Emery Pittman of Clayton.

From his father's family, Isaac was loved by grandparents on Nathan's side: Donald Brown & Phyllis Chandler of Durham, and on Amanda's side: Carol "Peepeye" & Randy Marshall of Hillsborough, and Michael Chambers & Dawna Anhalt of Zebulon.

From his mother's family, Isaac was loved by grandparents on Elizabeth's side: Anne Edwards of Macclesfield and June Shearin of Enfield, and on John's side: Tim & Wilma Pittman of Pinetops. He also relished the love of his Aunt Mary.

Isaac was loved by many aunts and uncles including: Nathan's brother Keenan Brown, Elizabeth's sisters Hanna Roppo and husband Rocco, April Mitchell and husband Bob, and Elizabeth's brothers Bill Canipe and wife Kim, and Bobby Canipe and wife Amy, and John's sister, Erin Scott and husband Rusty.

Isaac was preceded in death by Elizabeth's father, Gregory Donald Edwards, Nathan's mother, Linda Davis Brown and Elizabeth's sister, Melody Jo Gannett.

A celebration of Isaac's life will be announced at a later date.

Donations in Isaac's name may be made to The Busyhead Project, https://www.busyheadproject.org/. The Busyhead Project is a non-profit mental health organization, founded by Noah Kahan, that aims to end the stigma around mental health and improve access to resources.
