James M. Payton

James M. Payton, known to friends and family as Jim, passed away  July 10, 2024, at the age of 68, at Authoracare Hospice, Greensboro, NC. Jim, a lung cancer survivor, was stricken with corticobasal degeneration that kept him bedridden for the last year of his life. His wife Helen was his caregiver as well as hospice staff. Holly, his nurse, and Regina cared for him lovingly. Diamonique, his social worker, was part of the amazing hospice team.

Special thanks goes to friends Steve and Margo who supported him along with other close friends. Jim loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed golf, cards, traveling, and the beach. Jim served in the Air Force and was retired from the IRS.

At this time, there are no services planned. His ashes will be taken to the ocean for one last swim.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Authoracare Hospice, Greensboro, NC, in memory of Jim.
