Jeffrey Dobson passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. A devoted husband, father, veteran, and attorney, Jeff’s life was defined by service, strength, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Born with a deep sense of duty and resilience, Jeff proudly served 16 years in the military. His distinguished military career earned him numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award). His service also spanned into collaboration with the U.S. Air Force, where he was honored with the USAF Outstanding Unit Award (2nd Award), the USAF Combat Readiness Medal (2nd Award), and the USAF Good Conduct Medal. Among his many decorations are also the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and several other accolades recognizing his valor, commitment, and leadership.
Following his military retirement, Jeff pursued his next calling: the law. Driven by a passion for justice, he entered Campbell Law School and, after graduation, founded his own law firm. He later continued his legal career in service to the public as an Assistant Public Defender for Alamance County, where he was known for his tireless advocacy, integrity, and compassion for clients.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jeff was a man of fierce loyalty and love. He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Dobson, his mother, Lisa Dobson, his brother, Clint Dobson, as well as his cherished son, JJ Dobson, and JJ’s mother, Stacy Dobson. He also leaves behind countless friends who will forever cherish his memory and the immeasurable ways he made their lives better.
He was the best friend. He believed in always showing up – for birthdays, for late-night phone calls, for difficult conversations, and for the little moments that mattered. His friendships were not fleeting. They were built on shared laughter, honest talks, and the kind of loyalty that never wavered. Jeff’s presence brought comfort, his laughter brought light, and his steady hand brought calm in stormy times.
Jeff’s legacy is one of honor, courage, and profound love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Jeff will be buried in the Arlington National Cemetery with full honors. Details will be shared with friends and family in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a veterans’ or cancer support organization of your choice, in honor of Jeff’s memory.
