It is with shattered hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Maxwell Henry Daum, who died in a car accident on November 20th, 2025. Our precious, brilliant and endlessly introspective son; our fiercely protective, acerbically witty and profoundly kind-hearted big brother; our thoughtful, caring and deeply loyal friend was 32 years old.
Max held both a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science, from UNC Chapel Hill, and was an innovative Cloud-Native developer whose career spanned several teams, positions and industries. Yet the charismatic performer in Max was never silenced. A lifetime lover of music, sports and acting, he was also a talented pianist and even spent time as the lead singer of a co-worker rock band. During his last several years, Max uncovered another deeply meaningful passion, spending countless hours honing his skills as both a prolific writer and poet.
Max is survived by a large and loving family including parents, siblings, countless aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, childhood cohorts, dear family friends and colleagues who cherished him deeply.
A Celebration of Life is forthcoming. Details to be announced. But until we meet again, our family wishes you a holiday season filled with gratitude and grace. Please shower your love loudly, boisterously, messily even. With equal parts kindness, humor and sweet intentions leaving nothing unsaid.
He loved you all.
