Peter Anthony Vallario

Peter Anthony Vallario Jr. passed away on October 27, 2026 at the age of 69, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 5, 1957 to Peter Anthony Vallario Sr. and Dreama (Bowman) Vallario in Aberdeen, MD. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

Peter grew up in Rockaway, NJ with his parents and three siblings, of which he was the oldest. He was an accomplished junior Olympic fencer, and he went to college at NC State University in Raleigh, NC, on a fencing scholarship. This is where he met the love of his life, Phyllis Poston. Peter and Phyllis eventually moved to Durham after getting married in 1987. They had a daughter named Mary Leah Vallario in 1989, and a son named Anthony Lawrence Vallario in 1995. Peter was a jack of all trades, and one of the handiest people ever born. He worked for many years installing commercial doors, then had a job overseeing safety at G.E. Aviation. The job he was best at was being a dad and helping repair everything from cars to broken hearts with his overwhelming intelligence and wit.

Peter had an eclectic taste in movies and music and made sure to pass that love on to his children.

Peter was predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his children, Leah and Anthony, three siblings, David Vallario, Victoria Vallario, and Angelica Wojciechowicz (Robert), eight nieces and nephews (NC, GA, NJ), three sisters in law, Glenda Riddle (Alfred), Katherine Owen (Michael), and Andrea Comer (William), as well as two fur children (Morgan and Kiki) and three fur grandchildren (Theo, Daphne, and Otis). 

The family will plan to hold a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Duke Cancer Center, or an animal charity of your choice.
