John Lanclos

Robert “John” Lanclos, 62, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 25th at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with stage 4 melanoma brain metastasis, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lena Lanclos, and his brother, Philip. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Cori; his sisters Clotilde Taylor and Catherine Salario; sister-in-law Ginny Lanclos; his children Edgar Baronne III (Carly), Carleigh (Tina) Lanclos-Hayes, Daniel Lanclos, Claire Lanclos (Mason), and Tim Buiting who was like a son to John; and his grandchildren Edgar IV, Scarlett Baronne, and Elizabeth Corder.

John was married to the love of his life, Cori, for 35 beautiful years, and together they built the life and family he was most proud of. His greatest joys were his family and his faith. Whether working on projects with his kids, having long talks about life, or cheering them on in every endeavor, he showed up for them wholeheartedly. Becoming “Pops” was one of his greatest honors—he was the proudest dad and grandfather there ever was.

A lifelong Catholic, John was a proud parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy and an alumnus of Catholic High School. He cherished his time at Mercy’s adoration chapel, spending time with his OLOM ACTS brothers and treasured his annual retreats at his favorite place on earth—Manresa—where he returned year after year for nearly three decades.

John lived with humility, generosity, and unwavering devotion—values he carried into his 30 years running the family business, Professional Printer. He will be forever missed by his beautiful community of friends and family, all of whom he loved beyond measure.

The family extends special gratitude to his dear friend Larry Sims and the entire Sims family for their steadfast friendship and for giving John some of his happiest days on Mobile Bay.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Cleo J. Milano at Our Lady of Mercy on October 21st at 10:00 a.m., followed by a walk to Mercy’s Memorial Columbarium, The Garden of Peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Mercy Men's ACTS group or Manresa Retreat Center- Group 5.
