Robert William Wentz

Robert William (Bob) Wentz left this world on Saturday, November 8, 2025 after a brief illness in Asheboro, NC where he lived with his daughter and her family. He believed when he died his spiritual energy would stay with us and continue to be a part of our universe. Bob embraced life with all of the characteristics of a Renaissance man. He was a fully-rounded person, trained as an engineer but knowledgeable in many areas  including the sciences, arts and humanities.

Bob studied and received a degree in Marine Engineering. While working in this profession he traveled the world experiencing a variety of cultures learning about each place and the people who lived there. He often brought home gifts unique to the art and culture of the foreign countries he visited. Bob was always eager to share his stories and his knowledge and if you had a problem he would always offer to help. After talking with him about almost any topic, it could be science, math, mechanics, physics, art, music, history or politics you always learned something. Bob was an environmentalist who often stressed the importance and benefits of spending time in nature and the conservation of our planet. He had a witty sense of humor and was always ready to crack a joke. Bob was an adventure lover who enjoyed the thrill and excitement of motorcycles, fast cars, and alpine skiing (especially off trail). For a time he worked on a pit crew for a motorcycle road race team. He cherished the ski trips he made with family and friends to New England, Chamonix France and the Swiss Alps. As a music enthusiast he enjoyed his classic rock and accumulated an extensive collection of classical music with a deep appreciation of the works of his favorite composers Beethoven and Mozart. Bob's appreciation of art extended into Fine Art. His favorite painters were the Dutch Masters with Vermeer at the top of his list. 

Following his work as an engineer traveling the oceans of the world, Bob shifted to a land based profession in the trucking industry. During this time he carried freight coast to coast and experienced much of the US. He settled down in rural Lancaster with his wife Ursula where they lived in a farmhouse and their daughter Rebecca was born. Soon after settling in, Bob decided it was time to use his entrepreneurial skills to build his own business. He and his wife bought a garage and motel in the area where Bob applied his mechanical and engineering skills to become the "ACE Mechanic" in the community. He was most interested in working on and restoring foreign cars. Ursula and Bob worked together managing their businesses while home schooling their daughter and building lasting friendships in the area. 

Bob is survived by his sister Karen, daughter Rebecca, son-in-law Kevin and grandchildren Brent, Skylyn and Alexandria. His intelligence, good looks and witty sense of humor live on in his daughter and grandchildren.. A family Memorial to honor Bob will be held this summer in PA. In lieu of flowers please consider planting a tree for Bob or enjoying a bottle of French Beaujolais or a red Burgundy while toasting to him in the stars.
