Sharon Kay Nelson, age 85, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on July 7, 2026, with family by her side.
Born on February 24, 1941, in Owatonna, Minnesota, Sharon was the daughter of the late Eben Frank and Jocelyn Thom. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Masche and Lindy Lucas. She is survived by her brother, Sid Guse.
She is also survived by her children, Bryan Michael Nelson and Lori Nelson Enterline (and husband Jeff Enterline), grandchildren Jake Nelson, Melissa Hudson, Jillian Enterline-Goldberg, Rush Enterline, John Enterline, and Grae Enterline, as well as her many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Austin High School (MN), and worked as a Compensation Specialist before she retired in Denver, Colorado. She was a creative artist who enjoyed drawing, painting, stained glass work, and jewelry making. She loved the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In 2023, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to be with family. She was able to travel to the Great Smoky Mountains and put her toes in the sand of the North Carolina beaches.
The family thanks the staff at Capital Oaks Retirement Resort and UNC Rex Rehab and Nursing Center for their loving care during her final days.
A private remembrance will be held for family per Sharon’s wishes.
