Victor William Wilkerson passed away peacefully surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of curiosity, kindness, and adventure. Born on February 22, 1955, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Tom and Glenna Wilkerson, Victor’s early life was shaped by his family’s military background and the wide world it opened before him. A true citizen of the world, he spent his childhood in Spain and India before settling in England for his high school years.
Victor attended Duke University, where he graduated in 1978 with a degree in Engineering. His keen intellect and love of technology led him to a distinguished career in telecommunications, including impactful tenures at Alcatel, ITT Telecom, and Motorola. Colleagues remember him for his thoughtful problem-solving and generous mentorship.
Beyond his professional life, Victor was a man of many passions. He was an avid pilot who found peace and exhilaration in the skies, particularly when soaring in gliders. A lifelong lover of music, he spent his younger years immersed in live performances—both as a devoted fan and as a skilled hand in sound engineering.
Victor is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Wilkerson, with whom he shared nearly 45 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Wilkerson, and son-in-law, Alex Senior, who will carry forward his curious and adventuresome spirit.
Victor’s life was a testament to the joy of exploration—of places, ideas, and the connections that make a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
